3 Generations Fishball Story In The Making

I’m Delonix, the third-generation owner of SanDai Fishball. Our journey began in the 1960s when my grandfather, Tan Kok Heng, started our humble fishball stall known as HengKee Fishball & Yong Tau Foo. Rooted in tradition, our stall started as a road-side pushcart and eventually found a home in Toapayoh Lor 7 Hawker Center, where we’ve been serving our beloved customers ever since.

In 2020, I took the leap to expand our business and introduce a new chapter to our story. With a vision to capture the essence of three generations, I rebranded our stall to become SanDai Fishball – representing the journey of my grandfather, father, and now myself. “SanDai” translates to “Three Generation” in Chinese, symbolizing the enduring spirit and tradition we bring to our fishballs and yong tau foo.

Our commitment to authenticity is unwavering. We’re proud to use only the finest ingredients, with 100% yellow tail fish as the heart of our creations.

Occasionally, we incorporate Wolf Herring fish, known as “Sai Toh Her” in Teochew or “Ikan Parang” in Malay, to elevate our flavors.

What truly sets us apart is our dedication to preserving tradition: we never compromise with artificial preservatives, surimi, starch, or chemicals. It’s an investment that may be costly, but it’s a commitment to our values and to delivering the most genuine, fresh, and authentic fishball and yong tau foo to all of our customers.
